AHS Class of 62 Newsletter, February 25, 2007
Although Faith Belobsky Eddingston graduated with the Class of 1963, she was a friend to many in our class. I was greatly saddened when I received this notice from Sonny. Our hearts and prayers go out to Faiths family and friends.

The family would like to thank all of her friends for their outpouring of love and support for Faith throughout her final months. May God bless you all.

You may have seen in news accounts that our company, H E Cannon Floral, had a very destructive fire just prior to valentines day. Fortunately, we were able to move our staff and fresh products into our greenhouse and completed the holiday successfully. My husband, Louis, class of 59, has spent most of his time since trying to get our computers back online. We plan to be in a temporary building there on our property at 512 W Division within a week where we will continue the business until our building is renovated. We had such an outpouring of kindness and caring from our colleagues and clients it truly warmed our hearts.
we are finding it true that good can come from bad situations. Just wanted everyone to know we have continued to be up and running and look forward to continuing to serve arlingtons floral needs.
Pat Jackson Flynt
I cant believe I forgot to tell everyone I know. The show first aired a couple of Sundays ago.
Pat Pierce Nevils
-----------------
The National Invitational AKC Agility Show is finally on TV. Pat Pierce Nevils daughter, Anna Lewandowski and her Newfoundland dog Rory competed at the beginning of December in Long Beach, CA. The show aired 3 more times Animal Planet - Thursday, 7:00 pm; Thursday, 10:00 pm and Sunday, 2:00 pm (all central time zone).
Pats daughter is on early where the hosts asked what it took to compete at that level - shes about the 4th person up and her one word is heart. The show then proceeds to show the competition from the 20 dogs down to the 8 dogs. Before each height, they show some of the dogs that did not make the 8 dogs that compete in the finals of each height. They finally come to the 24 height. Anna and Rory are in the part of the 24 dogs that did not make the finals. They come right after a St. Bernard. Rory, the black Newfoundland, comes into the picture and spins in front of a jump. Then you see Pats daughter Anna with her Texas flag shirt instructing Rory to jump. The spin is a disqualification at that level but there was their 15 seconds of fame.
Also of interest is the first dog up named Susie, the golden retriever. They are from Houston and Anna teaches agility for Jane Simmons-Moake. Susie and Jane had the best time of any of the dogs the whole weekend.
Alice and Larrys Summer Vacation
Our family, my husband, Larry, my cat Foozie and I had a wonderful summer on Coronado Island in California this summer. It has taken me a while to figure out how to transfer a few pictures from our photo album to electronic hi-tech and send them across the air waves to you. I have been determined because it was such a nice place, I wanted to share some of it with you. There is a beautiful bridge from San Diego to Coronado. It is pictured here behind us when we were on the USS Midway, which is now a museum in San Diego Bay.

While we were on their tour, I took this picture of Larry in front of an A4 that they had on display in their hanger. Thats the kind of jet he flew in the Navy.

Coronado is a small patriotic town and they have a wonderful 4th of July parade every year. We tried to dress for the occasion this year.
Every Sunday night they had a free concert in the city park which is in the center of town. Families would bring covered dishes and lawn chairs and group together with friends and neighbors and enjoy the evening visiting, having dinner and listening to music. One night the Ink Spots were playing. A couple of them are not original but 2 of them were and the base player is 94 years old! He had an amazing base voice!
I rode my bike all over the island all summer. I hadnt been on a bike in years. I wondered if I even remembered how. But, like they say, it always comes back to you. There were beautiful tropical plants and flowers everywhere, so I would forget I was actually getting exercise. We did a lot of walking, also.
We rented a wonderful 1940s cottage with a courtyard, which was like our most used room in the house. The weather is so nice there that we used the courtyard like a dinning room.
It was great to be outdoors in pleasant weather so much of the time. Foozie really enjoyed the courtyard, also.
My mother came to visit me. We had a good time shopping, lunching and sightseeing together. Some of you knew her, so I thought I would include this photo of us.
Skipping directly from summer to winter now, I hope you all enjoy the holidays and dont get stressed trying to do too much!
Take care,
Alice Venum Schear
